I'm Sarah and this is my little business - funnily enough I make teddy bears, cards and gifts!! Every month there's new stock made, sold online and at local craft fairs.
The cards and gifts started many years ago when I first became a self employed artist/maker back in 2010. I had a little stall inside Lincoln Central Market. With dwindling footfall at the Market, in March 2016 I relocated my business and moved into my office within The Terrace, Lincoln, with the intention of being more online and doing craft fairs. My products have really changed since I first started. With the peace and quiet I now have working on my own, it's an incredibly creative space to be in!
I think my best achievement to date is designing and producing my very own bear-range. The idea began in 2017 with a very 'questionable' looking bear, called Billy - he's in the first pic. Billy was made as a gift, just because I wanted to try making a teddy bear. By no means safe and most definitely only gifted as a decoration knowing he'll not be getting into any child's hands, ever! Poor Billy!
Obviously to sell, they needed to be safe and tested and a MUCH better design - this was all possible to do myself and, with a lot of research, help from fellow crafters, trials and many, many errors I managed to work out the pattern, process and materials needed. After purchasing a testing pack online I was then able to test and document the first style of Bears I made, right in my office using 'household' items, clamps, weights, scales and anything else needed - you'll find some more pics on the UKCA page.
Anyway, just like all of my other products, the Bears have evolved over the years and I'm pleased to say, so have my sewing skills (thank goodness)!
I absolutely love to draw (as you can see from the card drawings) and I like the challenge of designing new things - I have soooo many ideas for hoop designs it's painful not having the time to do them all. As for toys, I'd like to think I won't just stop at teddy bears... so we'll see what the future brings I guess.
